fxxxing lion @ trash

i had no idea what i was in store for when i walked into trash. i thought i did. but i didn't. go figure. rock'n'roll is never predictable, and this time i was pleasantly rocked out by anna's new project, fxxxing lion. holy shit. i'm still trying to recover. i had gone to see them on friday at rockstar bar... and i didn't know what to think of them then. but then i saw them at trash last night, and i was so into it. their music had the spastic, dancey punk quality of old liars songs. joe somar, the lead singer, nerded out in black plastic frames and thrift store sweaters, went all out tonight, and entertained me without getting naked (which i hear he does, but have yet to see). tia impressed me with her catchy as fuck guitar lines. where were those coming from? they were awesome and made me wanna dance and pour beer on everyone. conrad was also fun to watch as he swayed and swaggered all over the stage, his jacket slipping down little by little. it was nice to see them all rocking out and having fun -- letting go. i haven't seen a show like this in ages, and it was so fun! i felt like i was 16 years old discovering punk rock for the first time.

on a side note today, the guy who handed me my am new york this morning said, "have a good day at school!"

do i really look that young?

anyhoo, fxxxing lion's next show is at the north six basement with mommy and daddy and the alarmist on october 11. show starts at 9 p.m. i'll remind you closer to the date because it's going to be hot stuff!
