scary stories

ok, maybe halloween is scary, but not in that traditional horror flick kind of way. in the i-might-party-too-much-and-puke-my-guts-out-or-die kind of way. so, yeah, i am kind of scared of what this weekend has in store for me. my life has been SUPER lowkey for the past few weeks that i'm not sure that i can handle all of the party that this weekend promises. i might wimp out. i might dive in. who knows? i leave it up to fate.

here's all of the amazing shit that is up for this weekend. holy moly.

BE ANOTHER BAND FOR HALLOWEEN
hey brooklynites, christy from cheeseburger has put together a SPECTACULAR night of rock. he had a bunch of bands dress up as another more band for halloween and they will perform as that band!! this sounds like the most interesting "halloween" themed thing happening tonight. and best of all... IT'S FREE. the order of the bands is random, so get there on time to not miss your favorite band. here are the details, christy likes exclamation points:
** Oasis (brother VS brother!!!)
** Creedence Clearwater Revival (they're back from they bayou!!!)
** Poison (nothin' but a good time!)
** Black Flag!!! (slip it in...cuz they're wasted again!)
** Duran Duran (hungry like the wolf they are!)
** The Ramones ( gabba gabba hey!)
** Super Rad Guest DJ'S (You'll love them!!!)

GLOW IN THE DARK
here's another hot show for my fellow brooklynites. Other Passengers and Dirty Churches are playing at Tommy's Tavern. This is going to be insane for sure. Show starts at 8 p.m. Then you can follow the band to see Hula at some loft party near Pete's Candy Store. (members of Hula are in Dirty Churches so just ask them where it is at the show). if you wear a costume, it's $5 cover. if you don't wear a costume, it's $7. Tommy's Tavern is in Greenpoint (1041 Manhattan ave. @ corner of Freeman st.).

PIANOS ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND
Pianos is celebrating another anniversary. Has it been that long? Some cool bands are playing here tonight. Fighterpilot goes on early at 8 p.m. followed by performances by some cool local faves like El Jezel, Surefire and Blue Sparks! Don't forget to say hello to Jasper who put the night together. It's $8. The Blue Sparks afterparty will be at Motor City which is somewhere near Pianos on Ludlow

WALKMEN @ WEBSTER HALL
this is a no-brainer. be there and say hello to Jay who is working the list/door. then get up close and jump up and down for the walkmen. you know them, i don't have to tell you how awesome they are. i don't know who the other acts are, but i think they are mostly for the hippies. HOWEVER, please note that the band will probably go on about 9:30. it's an early show so get there early.
