some cute new bands i have befriended on myspace

yes i am an internerd. what else is new? these are some bands i have recently befriended on myspace and the songs that wooed me...

kawaii - "talk sleep or fuck" -- it's like a candy-coated "fuck and run" liz phair, except with pretty girl-boy vocals and lots of synth. they are from norway. i hope they make it to the US some time soon because we all know i'm not leaving the country for a while.


colored shadows - "eyes" -- i'm usually not into LA bands too much, but there is something intriguing and dark about colored shadows. i think it's because they sort of remind me of a more mainstream version of other passengers. i guess that means they are not as intense as OP, but they are still enjoyable. yo, come to new york.


tally ho - "greener" -- i always fall for indie rock boys in ties. it never fails. (sidenote: i think that's what i liked about kaiser chiefs. the other night when i saw them at bowery, i thought the lead singer looked like a mix of simon lebon, rod stewart and james spader. whoa!) anyways, there is something quite charming about tally ho's music, but i'm not sure if it's entering into some cheesy/silly territory where the music becomes compromised by the humor inflected.


autumn thieves - "rachel's underground" -- i'm not really sure why i sort of dig this band. i think it's because the singer sounds so sad. i'm not really confident it will translate to a good live show, but you never know till you try, i suppose.
