i love you, i really do
first off, thanks to everyone who came to mercury lounge on saturday. dirty on purpose sold out the place with a line down the block. and yes the afterparty was a total shitshow thanks to the folks at loose record, north street and dj del. lots of free beer, good music and dancing. what more could i ask for? also thanks to all the bands who played: bishop allen, the end of the world, and chloroform. you were all up to par and it truly felt like an OTM night -- just like back in the day when i used to throw monthly parties at luxx (rip). i heart you all. hugs and kisses! also thanks to daniel, beach and jomo. you rule.

clap your hands say yeah
last night i went to see clap your hands say yeah with jenna last night at movable hype ala knitting factory. i manuevered my way to the front and was dancing along to the fun songs. one thing kinda bummed me out though... i wish the band would smile more... or laugh... or something. they looked serious, and at times the lead singer looked so goddamn condescending. he kept rolling his eyes and had this look of disdain. i stopped dancing and clapping my hands... until robbie (correx) the keyboardist and tambourine man started jumping up and down and smiling and clapping all happy-like. that is what i needed! i was happy. i really admire the lead singer's voice on some songs -- the songs that were more fun and talking headsish. but on beautiful, gorgeous and lush numbers, it just didn't fit. at least in the live show -- on the recordings it is more blended and subdued but during the live show it was jagged and harsh. i'm looking forward to seeing them again though at southpaw on july 20 at the vicious anniversary show.

then jenna and i jaunted over to around the clock for frozen drinks and diner food. i had a pizza burger, which is practically a cheeseburger... speaking of cheeseburger, my friend christy's band is playing a record release this thursday, june 23, at red and black in williamsburg. it's going to be a shitshow. then they are playing a loft party on saturday. here are all the details to get your party on:
