jinners: why do you come here? and why do you hang around?

last night the show was great! i was really happy with how things went, and loved all the people i met and hung out with. i'm all about forming a community bond with people and encouraging the support of bands. last night i felt like i was among some sweet, endearing people.

i had never seen dr dog before, and they were super charming. just happy-go-lucky, feel-good loveliness. i was watching dtl's friend, sarah, the president of the dr dog fanclub swoon from the front of the stage. excellent!

dirty on purpose started off their set with what i think is termed a brown out -- not quite a black out -- but the basically the power went out for about 15 seconds during their first song. they kept truckin and the power eventually came back on. sort of funny, and reminded me of the skate bowl incident where they actually played an entire song in the dark.

people have been wondering where erika is. the band and her had an amicable parting, and we wish her all the best with au revoir simone -- which you might remember also includes annie who is dop's doug marvin's girlfriend. it's all in the family. if you know any female singers who can play a bunch of instruments, feel free to let us know...

clap your hands played their best show yet. i had issues with some of their past shows, but they really stepped it up at southpaw and sounded more cohesive. and they played an encore, how hot?

for those of you who didn't stick around for saints and lovers, you missed a band that is growing into their own. dennis' voice has always been a favorite of mine.

i got about 3 hours of sleep last night, and worked a full day at work. goddamn.
