cmj was better this year... but i was running around like crazy.
and now i'm exhausted. working this festival is a shitload of work, but it's sweetly rewarding all at the same time. i didn't get to see as many bands as other people who were simple pleasureseekers (i'm sorta jealous...), but hey, all in a day's work. here's some photos from my festival experience...

spencer created cool projections to hang above the crowd at the loft party on friday... he's the same guy who does the projections for a place to bury strangers...

vaz played a mean set... i thought paul was going to fall off the edge a few times into the crowd. hot.

yes, dirty on purpose. you'll see them quite a bit on this page. all in a day's work.
oh i almost forgot to mention -- i finally met jerry yeti.

i heart jay belin.

youth group were great. "shadowland" was so awesome!! that ending is smashing.

there were people MOSHING violently to a place to bury strangers. whoa.

the lovemakers making out...

and pumping out their brand of dancey new wave.

superfans dancing to the lovemakers... turning our loft party into a disco dance party. i was like, where the hell am i?

dirty on purpose, chin up chin up @ mercury lounge

that chin up chin up song "we should never have lived like we were skyscrapers" makes me wanna dance like crazy. it builds into a frenzy... oh so quietly, sneaking up on you... then you can't control yourself. your body moves in spasms. thank you.

the sound at this show was so amazing that many people came up to me and said it was the best dirty on purpose show ever. MARK is the man behind the board with the magic touch. thank you mark and mercury lounge for having us.

dirty on purpose @ soundfix records

soundfix has beautiful sound. the quiet, intimate setting was perfect for more poignant numbers like "cheat death" and "go back to sleep."
knife skills @ cake shop

knife skills were awesome. the deli thought so too... and even quoted me.
if you picked up the deli magazine, maybe you noticed perry, kip and i got interviewed on being independent band managers. i sound like such a nerd. haha.

rawr.

check out the dancing girl behind fon-lin. she was amazing and very punk rock... but how old is she???
trick & the heartstrings @ pianos

one of the biggest surprises for me was trick and the heartstrings. josh has been talking my ear off about them for so long! they are like prince, meets the police, meets the clash... jeremy brought up the clash reference. and they have these amazing coordinated dance moves that i'm really into -- so amusing. it's like oddball provocative. it makes sense that these guys were nyu drama majors because they really knew how to put on an entertaining show. my favorite song was called "i've got sex on me" though i liked the bjork and mazzy star cover... listening to their mp3s is nothing like seeing them live. definitely go see them.
shout! / ASCAP party @ bar 13

free pizza and pbr and youth group. yummy.

jin moon, you were so lovely on friday night. well done on an awesome party. sorry we couldn't stay longer (and should have - !!! didn't go on till 2am), but i had a kick ass time while we were there.
those projections were really cool, especially that box kite type thing that spun around.
and it was the best DoP show evah.
fucking... god dammit! i'm pissed i missed this dop show. sorry jin... i promise i'll be there next time. jamie
when was the pizza? i never saw any.
the kid dancing at the ks/cake shop show was joel's daughter kaija. i think she's 9 and very, very punk rock. ks is a family affair, no doubt.
