meet jf robitaille

hey peeps, yesterday i got to see jf robitaille perform two songs in the ascap office. it was pretty sweet stuff. i think his songwriting is really wonderful -- the lyrics are just really smart, honest and warm. check out music on his myspace page -- i love "bury every dream" and "the blood in my body." he's from montreal but just moved to new york five months ago. he's collaborated with the dears a bunch and has a big support base of canadian musicians behind him. his EP drops april 11, produced by howard bilerman (arcade fire, the dears, godspeed you black emperor) and brian paulson (beck and wilco). you can see him at joe's pub next thursday, feb. 23! this will probably be your last chance for a while because he's going on tour with julie doiron. but then again, he'll be doing a residency at pianos in april. that seems so far away. on a completely unrelated note, don't you love people with french last names? oui oui.
