the big sleep @ the brooklyn lyceum

i went to see the big sleep at the brooklyn lyceum on friday night. they were playing oh my rockness' show with goes cube, foreign islands and detachment kit. the brooklyn lyceum is very confusing when you first enter. you pay for tickets at the same counter you buy bagels at. the door way is too skinny and trying leave is a stressful bitch.
when you finally get to the main room, it turns into this spaceious art space that has a lot of potential. minus the sort of cheesey art hanging on the walls, the space has all the makings of a "smells like teen spirit" video, especially with the big sleep lighting.
as they took the stage, it was like being at a high school rally. the ominous sounds of their music filled the venue. people's heads hung low, bobbing to the beat of the big sleep. the set was brought to a climax with the giraffes' lead singer aaron lazar coming out and taking the mic. so awesome!
i can't wait to cheer them on at the editors show. if you're going to the editors at webster hall on thursday, show up early for the big sleep.
