reykjavik, iceland -- post-sugarcubes
so we didn't end up going to the blue lagoon on the day we thought we would. financially it didn't make sense to us -- a trip to the blue lagoon is best enjoyed on your way to the airport in keflavik because it's essentially along the way.
so so instead of soaking in geothermal waters, we walked around reykjavik around the main shopping area and took in more of the culture and history of the city. it started to snow, and the land was now covered in white. the lake near our hotel, which was originally only slightly frozen was now completely frozen. at the end, in an open circle of unfrozen water, there were swans (or geese?) and ducks wading for all of us to gawk at. birds in snowy weather? it was a beautiful sight.

after looking for the indie rock section at iceland's music chain, skifan, we headed back into the cold and walked around until we couldn't feel our toes. instead of bars, we spent our early evenings in a couple cafes, sipping coffee and nibbling on treats.
on our way to the airport, we stopped by the blue lagoon.
