damien rice

i really love damien rice. i met him yesterday at the tribeca film festival ascap music lounge. he was shorter than i thought, but supernice. he started his set with "delicate" and i squealed with delight (i know, i am so cheesey!). he played all the hits and some really fucked up, dirty, distorted and delayed songs. the crowd was so wild for him that he did an encore. looooooove him.

yesterday suzanne vega also played, and she ended her set with "luka" and "tom's diner." how fantastic!

it really made me think about music that will last past the trends. today's music can be so empty and ephemeral. most of the bands that are popular today, i really can't see them still around 20 years from now. that doesn't mean they don't have their own important mark in music history. it just means it's not the kind of music that transcends time. classics like neil young and bob dylan will always be around to influence musicians of all walks of life, from all corners of the globe. it's crazy to think that way, but it's true. i mean, i kind of think bands like my bloody valentine also belong in that category -- in an indie rock sort of way. they will be referenced every time any other dark and moody band that uses distortion pedals comes along. it's inevitable.

anyhoo, today i met adam schlesinger of fountains of wayne and ivy fame. they sounded great during soundcheck. i also met the scottish paul buchanan, who was also supernice. i love working at these kind of events.

beck photos
jasper has his photos posted on the secret beck @ hiro show. yum.

on a completely unrelated side note: why are all the celebrities getting skinnier and skinnier and more and more blonde? kelly clarkson on snl (she looked like hilary duff), nicole richie on the simple life, and lindsay lohan (according to tma). ok, maybe i don't really care. just making conversation, really.

the shins @ webster hall
oh this life, full of rock shows, can be admittedly quite exciting. i took garrett to see the shins on saturday at webster hall, and we got there early enough to get primo seats in the balcony -- with the perfect view of james, marty and the rest of the boys. this made us feel like we were attending the opera or something.

the shins are so good live that it hurts. james mercer's vocals are right on, and at times, breathtakingly poignant. their live show is also well balanced between upbeat and quiet, but consistently, all of their songs were fucking hits. there aren't many bands around today where every song they play is catchy, whimsical and strangely nostalgic (for a band that is not old at all). i was singing along the entire time and swaying like a mesmerized dork.

at one point, someone did yell "take off your pants." this reminded me of days of yore when i was "younger" and always found in the pit, as close to the stage as i could get. now i just can't deal with the crowd so much because i get kinda claustrophobic.

i also saw the opening band, the brunettes. they were cute as predicted... there were a lot of people on stage which made me think of those large canadian bands like arcade fire, hidden cameras, broken social scene, but this band was from new zealand. i was pretty into it at first, but after a few songs, the set started to blur together. just my opinion, but i think they are a novelty act. cute and uber of-the-moment, but in the end, they may not last too long because the music is quite trendy and dependent on the transient charm of its players.

I am a lyrical nerd so you know i post lyrics every so often. today i can't stop singing this goodie. thank you, kim deal. juliet tells me it is the only pixies song she gets writing credit for.

Pixies - Gigantic
And this I know
His teeth as white as snow
What a gas it was to see him
Walk her every day
Into a shady place
With her lips she said
She said

Hey Paul, Hey Paul, Hey Paul, let's have a ball

Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love

Lovely legs there are
What a big black mass
What a hunk of love
Walk her every day into a shady place
He's like the dark, but I'd want him

Hey Paul, Hey Paul, Hey Paul, let's have a ball

Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love

Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love

boo to this gray weather
tonight i'm going to this vice magazine art gallery opening for an artist named david choe. the exhibit is called tokyo prison art. i'm not sure i believe what they are saying about the exhibit (knowing vice, it's probably a hoax, right?) here are the details, anyhoo:

Hey all,

Our friend the artist David Choe got arrested for punching out an undercover detective in Tokyo in December of 2004. Then he spent four months in solitary confinement in a Japanese prison. Deprived of his usual drawing and painting tools, David improvised materials out of whatever he could scrape together in his tiny cell ‹ including soy sauce and his own urine.

His prison stay resulted in the works in this show, a stunning collection of drawings that illustrate what a genius draftsman gets up to when he has nothing to but draw. There are lots of dirty renderings of nubile women, and there are also fantastical imaginary landscapes and tableaus that are apocalyptic, hilarious, and beautiful.

You really should come see them. If you can't make the opening, they're up for four weeks afterward.

Here's the info:

your vote counts
i got this email from garrett of big rig design. you may or may not know that garrett is the design genius behind the dirty on purpose ep, sleep late for a better tomorrow, and also dop's flashy new website. beautiful, elegant and modern, right? his company has been nominated for a webby award. if you could chime in and vote for him, we'd all be grateful. he deserves it! i've pasted his email below, which explains how to vote for him. sidenote: he also looks like owen wilson so if you see him at the shins concert on saturday at webster hall, wave hello!

nirvana dvd
there's a lot of nirvana mentioned these days. what with that box set coming out around the holidays (no one put one in my stocking -- boo!) and now this dvd with interviews with kris and dave. some may say that kurt killed more than just himself. with his death, there was a definitive movement with musicians that slowly overtook the country. the underground was no longer the underground. it was the mainstream. therefore, underground music became pop music. it can be very confusing if you think about it too long, but i think you get my drift. watch a clip from the dvd here. ps. i want david fricke to dye his hair blonde. you know, just to mix it up a lil. pps. why did they cut out the nevermind baby's penis? where is that baby now?

the walkmen interviews
did you ever read these? i've been very out of touch. the one thing i know about the walkmen is that they grow on you. you probably have no idea that they are your favorite contemporary new york band, but just wait, they will be.

right now, i'm trying to put together some music to play at jay and josh's birthday party. email me your dancey mp3s here: sheneversleeps@gmail.com. who's bringing the smoke machine?

jay says there are more shins tickets on sale for the sold-out webster hall shows. grab them while they last!

UPDATE: SOLD OUT AGAIN!

i don't think this is gonna change
i almost forgot to mention that noah from sam champion will be opening for sir ed harcourt tomorrow night at a sold-out pianos gig. i also want to mention that this dude's band (noah) will be featured in teen people as an artist to watch. teenage girls everywhere will soon go goo-goo ga-ga over him. watch out! in honor of these achievements, i think i will add to the jukebox the song that first turned me on to sam champion. it's called "tv fever." i'll also add "now look at me." thanks, noah.

must be a different view to be a me with a you
ashley from the wicked says nada surf is playing south street seaport on april 30. there are some people who only know nada surf because of their mtv hit, "popular." but the band is so much more than that, especially their last album, let go. that gets played a lot on my ipod. i have to say, i prefer seeing them do their "solo" shows with only matthew and ira playing... there's a comfortable intimacy to their shows. and if you're lucky, he'll sing that adorable cat song.

do april showers bring rock flowers?

in other news, there is a lot of rock coming at the end of april. the shins are playing 3 sold out shows at webster hall. hopefully i will be attending at least one of them. but who are the openers, the brunettes? i'm not really sure, but they are damn cute. and they sound just as retro as they look. listen here.

the deli magazine is having a bbq at pete's candy store on april 30. doesn't it feel like summertime already? aren't you inexplicably blissfully happy? well, i am, anyhoo. in addition, au revoir simone, erika forster's sideproject with heather and annie, and hula will be performing at this lil' shindig. among others. by the way, have you seen the blog and the mp3 radio on the deli's site? technology is amazing.

also, i just scored a ticket to two shows: stars on april 27 and the wedding present on april 29, both at bowery ballroom. after seeing stars at sxsw this year, i just fell in love with them and knew i needed to see them in all their glory. i can't wait to see them perform . i'm also hoping to see jon brion at tonic on the same night as stars... we'll see if the timing works out alright. i am a fiona apple and eternal sunshine fan, so i'm crossing my fingers. and the wedding present -- well, i am very very very excited to see this band. i fell in love with them on the last tour when seamonsters was cranked in the van. i also really dig crystal skulls, who are opening. i recently saw them at mercury lounge, and they were like a nice piece of sugary candy for the ears.

this is also around the time that ascap is launching the ascap music lounge at the tribeca film festival, with performances from damien rice (i heart "delicate" and i can't wait to hear him perform this live!!!), ivy and suzanne vega. check out the schedule here.

music for the soul
i have added some more songs to the jukebox above, and deleted some others. among the newbies: pavement, guided by voices, lansing-dreiden and the ronettes.

rock and roll birthday
friday night i went to see stefan's band, the end of the world, again at tommy's tavern. that night i also ended up seeing the narrator (chicago), the pathways (chicago) and the natural history. everyone was really great, and i really enjoyed the narrator, actually. they surprised me because i actually thought their live show was better than their recordings. the natural history were also really great. somehow the sound in tommy's tavern was pretty excellent that night.

the end of the world were also soooo much better on friday night than they were on tuesday. it was more impassioned, and a much tighter set. several times i whirled around and couldn't get over how much they sounded like one of my faves.

somehow when i go out to these random events, i always end up running into people i know -- but they all don't know that we all know each other. follow what i'm saying? like i know jeannie from the seconds, jumee from ascap, tyler (jumee's bf chef) and jesse from the narrator, but i had no idea that they all knew each other and were good friends. so random.

then the next night, daniel and stefan had a joint birthday party at stefan's apartment in greenpoint. that party was a lot of fun too, and cameos were made by jay, dana, cara, juliet, george, joe, and others. i brought the boys a couple cupcakes from sette pani. it was more fun than i thought it would be. cheers to everyone!

today i played scrabble with anna and won. it was so warm that it really is starting to feel like summer. sooo nice! i just saw anchorman this weekend, and i keep quoting stuff from it. today my explanation to everything was, "because i'm a sex panther!"

this is the best thing i've seen all day.
i pity the fool! check it. out. grrr.

nescio
i'm feeling very frustrated today. do you ever feel like there is so much going on with so many different factors that you just don't want to do anything at all? that's how i feel about tonight. i know i want to be out and about. but there a million different events going on, and i just don't know what to do with myself. i don't know who i want to hang out with. i don't know what band i want to see. i don't know which neighborhood i want to be in. i don't even know what my favorite color is.

beck
can anyone get me into beck tomorrow? ticketweb kept bumping me off, and i was unable to get tickets. boo!!!

jelly @ southpaw
so builder has been raving about trick and the heartstrings to me for a while now... and lo and behold, the band comes up again in an email dug from southpaw has sent out about the new Jelly party at Southpaw. word from builder is that the band is like PRINCE. mark your calendars. it's next saturday, april 23... there's a cheap $5 cover. and nick catchdubs is DJing.

the oktober people
it's really warm in my office, and dj can't stop raving about the oktober people. check it out -- mogwai meets explosions in the sky.

i wish i never saw the sunshine
let me just say that today fucking dragged!!!!

ok now that i have that off my chest, i'd like to say i bought a bike yesterday, and am very happy with it. i look forward to taking many bike rides with dirty wburg hipsters.

moving on... tonight susan's donald played a ronettes song that was like "i wish i never saw the sunshine." it made me very sad because the loneliness in the song kind of creeps up on you. like you're trying not to act sad, but you are, so you are even sadder. crazy! so basically, it doesn't necessarily appear to be a sad song, but when you listen to the lyrics, you realize how tragic they are. somehow that made the song seem very real and matter of fact. the simplicity was astounding. how come no one really writes songs like that anymore? everything is always over the top and very self conscious.

i went to see mike's band last night and i guess i could have stayed for eluvium and mono, but i was really uninterested in being depressed so i went home. susan came out to the show with me, and it was really good to hang with out with her. i was looking forward to watching my netflix anchorman dvd, but realized when i opened the envelopes that they were the other movies i rented -- diva and closer. both sounded sort of depressing.

hump day officially sucks!!

the winter pageant & mono tonight at north six

scratch, what i said before. it IS the end of the world.
ok, so i made it out to see the end of the world last night at mercury lounge. i didn't think i would know anyone at the show since dtl is in the bahamas, and it didn't seem like any of the other 186 crew would attend... so i was on my own doing research! (ps, thanks to ben for putting me on ze list.) but i ran into my coworker jumee and some people from chicago that i know... including flame shovel's jesse, as we recounted a particular mind blinding mike watt experience at rothko during cmj... that's how i will always remember him.

i almost fell over when the band started to play. jumee told me they sounded like the walkmen, a band that everyone and their mother knows i adore. i didn't hear the similarity on the mp3s that i have... but when they started playing, it was impossible to ignore. i mean, really really impossible. the last song they played turned into a jamming guitar session explosion. intriguing stuff, but still developing for sure. the potential for awesomeness is there though, and i really enjoyed the set. i was sad they didn't play "the slip." i had heard they don't play that as much anymore, but it is one of my favorites of theirs... i'm definitely going to their show with the natural history (natty hizzo!) at tommy's tavern for another dose. the natural history have dramatically changed their set, in my opinion. they've added a member and julian sings too now. is the world turning upside down?

random news
sure, britney's pregnant. y que? check out this random bit of news i came across from the mediaguide newsletter:

Each week Mediaguide will bring additional attention to one of the stations in its monitored network. In some weeks, we will be fortunate enough to have one of the monitored stations share their thoughts on an album that has captured their staff and listeners. In other weeks, we will highlight a playlist that has captured our attention for its diversity and combination of local, regional and national artists.

This week, WRGP of Florida International University in the Miami - Ft. Lauderdale - Hollywood, FL market is our featured station. Their top 10 albums, based on the number of plays detected by Mediaguide, from the week of April 4 through April 10, 2005, has a self-released artist, Dirty On Purpose, as its leader and includes Rock, Electronica and Latin music. WRGP has also been a leading supporter of our Early Riser this week, Soundtribe Sector 9.

oddly enough, DoP got more plays than sonic youth and mojave 3... crazy!

chinese stars & locust @ north six
so i forgot to mention that i saw the chinese stars and locust yesterday at north six.

i came in after the chinese stars already started to play. i think that they were better in austin, but they still were good and fun to me. the crowd in austin was more fun, and sometimes, maybe that makes the difference. new york can be pretty blase...

i heard a little bit of daughters... and decided to spend time out in the front bar.

then i came back in for locust, who were awesome. there was a pit with people throwing each other around... and some of those kids looked like they were at a religious revival and the building, intense chords locust brought were their key to mecca. it was pretty amusing to watch.

other passengers @ tonic and some other rock shows
i was meeting up with my coworker march for an evening of rock... walking past pianos, i ran into sean bones, who reminded me that noah was playing a solo set at pianos with the dude from clap your hands say yeah. too bad i already had plans...

i went with march to the other passengers show at tonic. this was touted as the last benefit at the venue that is now out of the red thanks to many supportive bands and fans. their email said they were slated to perform at 8:30... march and i waited around until around 10, and then we had to jet to irving plaza to catch trail of dead (march had never seen them before). we quickly ran into jay and his whole crew, which was a nice bonus for me. jay says i only came to the show to get a mention on good times roll. this is probably the truth. sorry to say, march and i got a little bored during TOD and left to see Sword at the Shout! party at Bar 13. There, I ran into Hightower and Jo and Vorrasi. Sword is a new metal band that i think Kemado is looking at... or headbanging to. or both. boy, they were a total headbanger's ball. not really my thang. i was getting pretty over the whole rock show thing, so i ducked out and went home to sleep. oooh sweet sleep!

on saturday night, even though i said no rock shows... i broke my rule and went to one. i met up with doug at the north six basement to see his friends' joe robinson and jared's band chloroform. they play once a year... and they actually turned out to be astonishingly amazing. it hit me from nowhere, and i was dumbfounded afterwards. i told them they should play more often because people will LOVE them. we'll see what happens.

don't worry, it's not the end of the world.
i really wanted to see stefan's band, the end of the world, tonight at mercury lounge, but i just heard that his band is playing with the natural history at tommy's tavern on friday too. who knows, i might make it to both!

in other news, i am picking up my new eye glasses tonight.

in other other news, i may also be purchasing a nice brown schwinn tonight. oooh i can feel summertime in brooklyn just around the corner, and i'm so excited!!

thank you, stylus
you made my day yesterday with these two kim deal songs!
** sonic youth - little trouble girl
** bob pollard and kim deal - love hurts

y que?!?
just in case you forgot what my new favorite spanish expression was. it comes in handy a lot! use it and abuse it!

band practice
i know people think it's weird or funny that i go to band practice fairly often... and i'm not technically in a band. this tradition started very early and it just stuck, though now i usually have a reason to go to band practice -- whether it is to escort people there or go over pressing issues, blah blah blah. last night i went with josh, miriam and josh's cousin gabe, who saved our asses in austin by sending us a bunch of cds to sell. good guy. i brought over cupcakes for dj's belated birthday, and we all got jolly. it's also nice to remind myself why i love that band so much. the music is quite addictive.

do you let other people hang out during your practices? do you go to other people's band practice? what's it like? different? watching dop practice is like watching scientists making music. they try different theories out until they arrive at the right hypothesis. and they do it with the fewest words possible. less talk, more music!

ghetto blaster
is it wrong to like something called ghetto blaster? it does to me... but i just can't help myself. i'm particularly leaning towards "bite my tongue."

definition of a hookup
according to a new york times story, a hookup is "anything from making out to doing the nasty, generally with no commitment or plans for said commitment." it goes on to say the definition has become even more loose (pun intended) as people are using the term to refer to even meeting a guy for a drink.

oh, really?

the article also says there is a pattern of a lot of casual relationship, but not casual sex. but once you find "the one", capriciousness and levity will end. and then you fall in love. boom.

by the way, jamie calls it, "doing the grownup." it's the funniest expression i've heard in years, especially when a sensitive jockish canadian boy like jamie says it. come to visit soon, j!

ciggy sore throats
on my ipod, i have like a million different playlists to fit my mood (which admittedly can be a pretty wide range). this is my latest one. i call it "ciggy sore throats".

frances farmer will have her revenge on seattle - nirvana
red dragon - deerhoof
turtles have short legs - can
never ending math equation - modest mouse
girl afraid - the smiths
sweet jane (live) - the velvet underground
the yellow ones - pinback
love is no big truth - kings of convenience
i don't want it - ween
star sign - teenage fan club
these days - mates of state
my kind of soldier - guided by voices
today is gonna be mine - david kilgour
(i want you) more than ever - the clientele
open book - cake
turnstile blues - autolux
every moment - rogue wave
oh well, okay - elliott smith
little house of savages - the walkmen
airport motels - crystal skulls
in the mouth of a desert - pavement

chromewaves.net
i almost forgot to mention that frank from chromewaves.net did one of the most thorough and accurate and fun reviews of DoP of any blog i've ever seen. this kid does his research! and again, thank you!

why are black sabbath, the stooges and the sex pistols not in the rock and roll hall of fame?
our dear jem has written a story on why HOF sucks in this regard. read it here.

personal days are good for the soul
yesterday i took a personal day, and it felt awesome. i was instantly happy as i entered the warm sunshine. it felt like the beginning of summer -- which always brings a gentle pitter patter to my heart. this is how i started the day: i got an eye exam so i can get a new pair of glasses. i got a new haircut from wing at vidal sassoon. he is my new favorite hairdresser. i went east village shopping with juliet and bought the cutest headband from the good the bad the ugly (or whatever it is called). i got a grapefruit juice from liquiteria. i visited tom at trash, but didn't have quite enough time for a proper visit. i will have to stop in for a game of pool next week. then in the evening, i went and met the boys and josh and chris for dinner and brainstorming at wasabi. it was so much fun! just a perfect day.

also, my new temporary motto for this week is "no more rock shows." next week that changes because the chinese stars are coming to town to play at north six on monday (april 11). that's going to be so much fun! then the boys in the winter pageant are gonna make me weep when they play with mono at north six on wednesday (april 13). too much goodness coming up to nyc!

also: other passengers are playing tonic and trail of dead are playing irving -- both shows on sunday (april 10). you should go see both... like i hope to do.

ps. i added mates of state ("these days") and crystal skulls ("airport motels") to the jukebox. i also deleted a few songs, just to clean up the mix a lil.

notproud.com
susan and i read this confession for "gluttony" last night, and couldn't stop laughing... so i thought i'd share it with you. this website is great for random entertainment.

When I was a kid, probably five or six, my mom would not let me turn the heat up or eat cookies for breakfast on a cold winters morning. I locked my mom out of the house when she went outside to get the paper. Then I turned the heat up and ate cookies next to the heater. My mom had to break a window to get inside. When she asked me why I locked her outside and would not let her in I replied, "I thought you were a stranger."

happy belated birthday, dj.
sorry i couldn't make it out tonight (last night). but hey, now i owe you a drink and a nice lil' gift. woooord.

i am so beat! i just got back from the awards show (for dayjob), and now i am fucking beat. doesn't that expression sound so 80s?

speaking of the 80s, my cabbie on the way home was awesome. he played me led zeppelin and poison. he was really into guitar solos, i could tell. it was a nice way to end the evening.

side note: my vintage green dress was a smash. thank you edith and dehia (sp?). you are zeeee bestest store in all of soho.

tonight, i had a lot of firsts. i had my first experience working the script for an awards show. i talked with mario bosquez for a bit (cbs news dude) and joselly castrodad from people en espanol. they were hosting the show. super duper nice. so down to earth.

i escorted many performers back and forth from the dressing rooms, though i guess this isn't the first time i've done that... but you know, it's been a while.

i met the reps from the miami office and fell in love with both of them. such nice people! one of the reps kept telling me i had a baby voice and that i looked 18. i of course adored him!

i had MAC Cosmetics do my makeup... which i was nervous about because i didn't want to wear toooooo much makeup. but they did a great job. played up my eyes, just like how i do.

i learned my new favorite spanish expression: "y que" (a name of a winning song, but it means "and what?"). i'm gonna say that shit all the time now, dude. y que!!??

now i am ready for sleepytime. buenos noches!

chillax
i'm trying to chill out a little bit before i head to work this morning. got up a little early to not be in a rush, but as usual, when i get up early, i usually fuck around on the computer and waste time.

however, this time, i don't have much to do. i no longer have myspace or friendster. and now i'm thinking about eliminating one of my email boxes just to save myself the wasted energy of checking a bazillion inboxes. good plan? we'll see.

today i will be even busier than i was yesterday. yesterday i was working at a membership meeting for my company and had been at hammerstein from like 9 to 6. not too bad. today i will be at hammerstein from about 9 to midnight for the awards show. this year i became more involved in writing the script for the show... in fact, i wrote the entire script (though i'm certainly no bruce vilanche), went to a production meeting for the first time, and now will be working the script for the show. this is particularly exciting to me because i've recently been interested in event production. the work day goes by a lot faster when you're just running around putting together the little pieces to a big show. it's more exciting. it's less sedentary. i guess it's sort of what i used to do with OTM shows back in the day... and i sort of do miss the drama and satisfaction of creating a show.

the walkmen @ irving plaza
sponsored by dentyne

so what is up with the dentyne girls at the walkmen concert? i don't even have anything more to say about that. uh, thanks for the $5 concert and the extra sugar?

however, to be ever so corny, the concert was anything but a breath of fresh air. i love the walkmen, but that irving plaza show was not their best. sometimes i don't even think they give a shit anymore. have they become that jaded? worn from touring? worn from being so successful? where is the raw energy that used to drive their live show. the pure joy?

they did play a couple of my faves though, and these sort of melted my heart a little. i adore "the rat" (obvious, right?), "thinking of a dream i had" (oh that slow part kills me every time) and "bows and arrows" (yes, straight through my corny corny heart). but just as i was warming up to them again...

the boys played some of their new songs, and to be honest, i wasn't extremely thrilled, and i SO wanted to be. i am that hardcore. but instead, i found myself lost in songs that were murky and directionless at times. but, in a way, they were also gentle, pretty and SHOEGAZERY even. what is going on? another metamorphosis of the band? i'm curious to see where all this is leading, and i wonder what it will all mean for their commercial viability. i can't say for sure if it is bad or good or status quo, but i feel them growing into another form, and i can't wait to see it a little more clearly.

moon
here are three spectacular things with "moon":
a) blue moon beer
b) moonshine
c) henry mancini's "moon river"

lightning bolt @ club exit
i have never seen a club as packed as club exit was in brooklyn. that club has a capacity of 1000, and i'm sure it reached that last night. never seen so many desperately bored people, including me, gathered together to see two guys with the most endurance i've ever been witness to. to say the least, seeing lightning bolt was some kind of experience. seeing people mosh to lightning bolt was another thing i certainly didn't need, but had to admit it was somewhat amusing. i didn't really like dmbq, though at times they were amusing and, well, very japanese. black sabbath dressed like the darkness? panthers have turned into very serious distortion heavy metal. where's the tummy humor? the punk beats? the smiles? the duct tape? i miss that.

staying in today was another experience. where does the time go?

more details, not to follow.

in other news, it is easier to cancel your account from friendster than it is in on myspace. on myspace, they ask you at least 10 times if you are "really sure" you want to cancel your account and even send you a notice in the email for "confirmation of your cancellation." they're like a psycho friend who won't leave you alone, even when you're doing your best to kick them to the curb. friendster only takes a couple clicks and 30-seconds of processing time. yes, you will no longer get annoying bulletin posts from me on friendster or myspace. another spam box gone. huzzah!
