you give me fever
i'll have a bourbon and gerger!

the night started off very innocent. i was going to go home and relax. someone at work actually offered me a free ticket to see blur at hammerstein... and i declined because i thought i was going home (thanks anyway, margaret, you rock!). little did i know that i would indeed be going to a show... to see the fever! i snored through some other bands and chatted with some new peeps. good to meet all of you! the fever instantly woke me up from my slumber and grumble and made me feel all giddy. i couldn't take my eyes off of lead singer geremy. he was simply electric. water got thrown on my smiling face. the mic stand fell on my ready and willing hand. the end of the stand got shoved into my crotch and outside of the club some girl burnt me with her cigarette. it was a night of full throttle rock and roll, and i was sober the entire time, and it was so much fun! i think geremy saw me dancing all crazy-like and gave me funny looks from the stage. i'm sorry i just can't help myself. my hips start to shake and my heart starts to convulse with joy and adrenalin. good music makes me schizophrenic on the dancefloor. yes, folks, i likes to boogie. so what was missing from the night? those pretty red "fever" lights that are usually behind the guys. no frills, but plenty of thrill. and yes, the moving units drummer chris hathwell was there supporting his buddies and singing along -- he knew every single word! he must have snuck out after the blur show at hammerstein! i guess i could have gone to both shows. oh well.

he's a moving unit

the other day i also went to see knife skills' triumphant return to the new york scene. anna and fon lin were hot as hell and matty, their new drummer, kept up with the pace. it was a star-packed crowd with jeannie, zach, alice, naf, mario, ropstyle, stupid dj crew, roboflan, and the rest of y'all packed ivy south to witness greatness. sweet!

i also saw the ex models play at north six. man, they were fucking hardcore. that's how rawk is supposed to played these days. it was so shattered and pieced back together... and playful at the same time. i enjoyed the deconstruction and look forward to the next time they cut it up and let it bleed.

on another note, here is a picture of a locust:

mommy and daddy

photo: jinners

mommy and daddy played sin-e on saturday and i thought that i was off-duty as far as photos were concerned, but then kevin's camera ran out of batteries and he asked me to take some shots. so i did. above is one. mommy and daddy shook their thang on stage and rawked the stage like a vandal. the room turned into baby baby baby baby oh baby as the crowd was transfixed by vivian's bewitching ways and edmond's fits of performance epilepsy. check out jasper's amazing photos of mommy and daddy. damn, the guy can click, can't he?

incidentally, when i got to sin-e that night, the door guy said, "oh you're a regular" when i gave him my ID. then inside when i paid the girl, she said, "you've been here alot." have i? and why do they remember me???

i've started a fotolog because i don't know where to put the extra photos i take that are not music-related. how fucked up is it that you can only upload one photo a day? check out my first upload... i tried to be artsy fartsy but i'm not really that good. it's just life.

so i went to...sin-e... earlier -- july 7th -- and saw fon lin's new band china syndrome. they were very experimental and put me in an instant trance. plus they wore white hot outfits that made me think of purity, essence and free spirits. simon was working the electronic beats, fon lin the violin and dave on saxophone.

that smiths cover band, black on the outside, last night at the bqe lounge at ropstyle's party, the situation. that singer sure could swing his hips eh? even when there wasn't music playing! matthew says it looked like the smiths were aerobicizing (spelling?). they still made me kinda sad with whimsy:

under the iron bridge we kissed, and though i ended up with sore lips, it just wasn't like the old days anymore. no it wasn't like those days...am i still ill? does the body rule the mind or does the mind rule the body, i dunno...
