A Place To Bury Strangers, King Khan & The Shrines, Black Acid @ South Street Seaport

Yes, the South Street Seaport shows are among my favorite summer moments. What better way to spend a Friday night? Along the water, the dramatically lit boats and some great music = New York fun.

A Place To Bury Strangers headlined this past Friday night, and let me tell you they totally killed it. It was an amazing explosion of beautiful noise as Ollie, Jay and Johnno took the stage to show fans and tourists a modern twist on shoegaze psychedelics.

King Khan & The Shrines was the big surprise for me. Right in the middle of two shimmery noise bands, there was the Indian re-incarnate of James Brown also known as King Khan and his 10 piece garage soul band, complete with a pom-pom'd smiling dancer. Amazing. I couldn't help but dance for joy.

Black Acid opened the night, and they sounded really good straight off their tours with the Raveonettes in the States and a European jaunt. Keep an eye on them, they are getting really fucking good.

Check out more photos from the show here.
