Cheeseburger - "Roll Like That"
This is my new favorite Cheeseburger song called "Roll Like That." Here's some footage from the Vice/Colt 45 party on Saturday night at Glasslands... That was one of the funnest Cheeseburger shows ever!
August 4 @ King King (Los Angeles) August 6 @ Drunken Unicorn (Atlanta) August 7 @ Hideout (Chicago) August 8 @ Barbary (Philadelphia) August 9 @ Glasslands (Brooklyn)
Cheeseburger, Love As Laughter, Coin Under Tongue @ Mercury Lounge This Friday!!!!
Awesomeness will abound. Cheeseburger is easily one of New York's most fun bands -- and their songs have gotten really tight and catchy over the years. Come out to this show and see for yourself!
They are playing at Mercury Lounge in New York on Friday, July 18 (tomorrow!) with Love As Laughter (who just released their album, Holy) and Death By Audio Records' Coin Under Tongue (which features George from Dirty on Purpose). Also performing is This Frontier Needs Heroes.
I'm sitting here in front of the glow of my laptop, and I feel like the weekend has breezed past me once again.
First off, I had two shows for Cheeseburger at Maxwell's and Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday and Saturday night. I found that I had such a dilemma at the shows because I have gone from being one of their fans to their manager. Usually during a CB show, I would be up front, singing along and whipping my hair about into a sweat. This time around, I had to be networking and talking to people and such... although at Maxwell's I was totally up front and singing with all the other fans. (Sometimes I just can't help myself!) Maxwell's was a pretty rad show and they totally gained some fans in the Jerz for that one. There were dudes there doing the hardcore dance.
At Music Hall (dudes, did you see the new rad marquee the venue has upfront? it rotates from the outside and the inside!!), I was so happy because so many of my friends showed up -- but that also meant I was running around the venue chatting it up as much as possible. The band played a couple new songs that really thrilled me. And of course, I absolutely love the tiger costume! They kept that a surprise from me until soundcheck. They played both shows with this super-group from Boston called Bang Camaro who are like the heavy metal Polyphonic Spree.
Pre-show we actually went to hang out at GPT (typical Cheeseburger style if you listen to the "Gang's All Here" which is about GPT), where apparently the bar made special GPT t-shirts with the boys' names on the back of the shirts. They decided to wear them to the gig. It was genius.
However, after the gig, we all headed over to Coco66 in Greenpoint. Greenpoint is steadily becoming my favorite place to hang more and more. I want to move there! This was Saturday night, and it turned out that Jeremy from Autodrone was DJing (I believe he does every Saturday). Honestly, I had never seen him DJ before -- but I found out that night that he is one of the most awesome DJs ever! Everyone in the bar was dancing, girls were getting up on the benches and grinding the wall, it was pretty funny. He was playing all of the hits, and I adored it. I definitely have to go dancing there more often. I want him to DJ my birthday party... too bad that's like 10 months away. HA.
The new band I am repping, Cheeseburger, is playing not one, but two shows this weekend. I would love to see you there. Let's have a beer. Let's dance. Let's scream at Joe Bradley and tear his shirt off.
To show you what I mean, here is a clip of them at their last show...
I also have two of my fave songs "Tiger" and "Gang's All Here" at the top of my imeem player above. Blow out your cubicle and turn the volume UP!
Plus, here's their video for "Tiger" which totally makes me fall in love with them.

Hey Peoples, Cheeseburger is playing February 1 & 2 with Bang Camaro at Maxwells and Music Hall. Get ready to tear up groundhogs and whatnot. If you saw the 'Burger at my Knitting Factory show in December, you will know why I love this band so much.
Let's Get Crazy. Mondays are the new Thursday, Innit?
Preview of My 5th Year Anniversary Show From the Village Voice: Cheeky Brooklyn trio Cheeseburger have won themselves plenty of Stooges comparisons with vocalist Joe Bradley’s whiskey-soaked growl, their sloppy three-chord romps about cocaine and sex, and their fun, filthy stage shtick. With Dirty on Purpose/Shorebirds alt-country psych-rock side-project Neckbeard Telecaster and Frenchkiss post-rockers the Big Sleep, who are set to release the follow-up to their thumping, feedback-drenched freak-out Son of Tiger in February. Also: Coin Under Tongue. [jinners note - coin under tongue are like a heavier, southern nirvana. in other words, they rule!]
Are you ready to have a rock and roll heart attack?
Jinners.com is celebrating its 5th year as a New York music blog, and I would love to see everyone at this party! Since December of 2002, Jinners has been covering the New York music scene and cheerleading her favorite bands. This party is part of the Blogger's Delight free concert series at the Knitting Factory Main Space in New York.
Jinners.com Presents... Monday, December 3, 2007 @ Knitting Factory Main Space, NYC
Cheeseburger (dirty, fierce rock and roll) Neckbeard Telecaster (members of Dirty on Purpose/Shorebirds) The Big Sleep (psychedelic dreamy rock) Coin Under Tongue (aggressive grunge) DJ Dug (of Dirty on Purpose)
Last night I popped into The Onion/Adult Swim's Halloween show at Union Hall to see one of my favorite bands in Brooklyn, Cheeseburger. This is a band that gets better and better every time I see them. But without fail, every time, I get so freaking excited! I wasn't even drunk last night, and I felt like I got a total contact high from the performance.
In the beginning of the night, Sara from Spinner (dressed as a sexy Spidey) did a "Name That Tune" round before the band took the stage. I correctly identified Vampire Weekend and won myself a free shot. That's so hipster of me. Thanks to Jeremy Yohai for pounding that band into my skull so early on. Now I kind of see the poetry of that band name.
I downed the tequila and then moved my way to the front of the stage. Part of the experience is about watching frontman Joe Bradley do his thing on stage. His crazed, drunken fierceness is probably second only to Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav, and that's probably only because Tim Harrington is twice his size.
Rolls of toilet paper were brought out and thrown all over the venue. Candy was thrown into the audience. Beer was spit on Halloween wigs and costumes. It was pretty magical.
Watch Cheeseburger perform "Derby Day" at Union Hall-oween.
Come see Nicole Atkins and the Sea tonight at their Monster Ball at Union Pool in Williamsburg. Party starts at 9:30pm, and it's free!
Then tomorrow night, come see Cheeseburger and Cassettes Won't Listen at Union Hall in Park Slope for the Onion and Adult Swim Halloween partay. It's only $5!
