It's Been a Long Time, Shouldn't Left You, Without a Dope Beat To Step To

Can you believe it is already mid-September? The last signs of summer are egging us all to sip the last of our cold maragaritas and squeeze in the BBQs and picnics before the cold weather sets in. The JellyNYC Pool Parties feel like they have long been over. The South Street Seaport shows are over.

I don't know about you, but I'm SO READY for the summer to be over. It's been an insane wild one, where I've spent most of it couch surfing with friends and trying to get a handle on my life. Most of the summer has been about work, work, work and more work. It's been the only constant in my life, I suppose. I've also been twittering an indecent amount. Is twittering the new blogging? I think it's the end of intelligent society as we know. I feel like I should read a dictionary or something to up my vocab from the OMGLOLZ to today's word of the day on dictionary.com. I told myself last night I have to stop typing the word "totes" for "totally." The internet is surely making my brain mush.

CMJ Music Marathon is just around the corner, and I think I'm looking forward to checking out some "new" bands for the first time in a long time. I want to travel back in time to when I first started to go to shows obsessively almost every night of the week. I remember the camaraderie of running into friends at shows, snapping photos with one hand while I sipped a whiskey ginger in the other. Buying t-shirts at the show and wearing it the next day. Planning out my show schedule weeks ahead of time. Fall is always the time for nostalgia, but it's also the perfect time for new beginnings. Let's end 2008 with a bang, eh? (And please don't call it "two thousand great"...)

Tonight, I am heading to the Music Hall of Williamsburg for what is sure to be a fantastical lineup. I'm SUPER PSYCHED! Hope to see you there...
