Kiki and I hosted an Oscar party at Union Hall last night. Thanks for all y’all who showed up to the packed crowd!
I had my doubts about the Oscars when I heard James Franco and Anne Hathaway were hosting it. Isn’t it kinda tacky that one of the hosts is also a nominee (I mean he is HOT so that kinda makes up for it I guess…)? And when did Anne Hathaway get so worthy? Mind boggling.
These two young Hollywood types set the casual tone for the evening and it was all flubs and strange momentz from the start, including the 30 Rock-ish intro with Alec Baldwin and everyone’s favorite voice of reason Morgan Freeman (why wasn’t HE hosting?).
Here are some of those top weird moments…
1) Kirk Douglas - WHY????? What the hell did he say?
2) Cate Blanchett presenting the award for Best Makeup and saying “That’s gross.”
3) James Franco “What up”-ing NYU — I mean it’s my alma mater, so heeeeey.
4) James Franco calling all the technical category winners “Nerds” — I mean I love calling people nerds, but maybe not on stage at the Oscars…
