Karin Park - “Tiger Dreams”

Bjork meets Sinead?

Either way, there is something dark and strange about it that captures my fancy.

From the press release:

Born in Djura (population 400) in the dark woods of Dalarna, Sweden, in a deeply religious family, Park was first a pop star in Norway with her 2004 debut ‘Superworldunknown’, before she started collaborating with Datarock’s Fredrik Saroea on the previous album ‘Ashes To Gold’, a route she’s now continued with Christoffer Berg (The Knife/Fever Ray/Little Dragon), into an even darker soundscape.

Karin’s new album combines electronica, industrial, dubstep and synth pop with her unmistakeable, truly unique voice. The album is out early next year but release of an EP (‘Tiger Dreams EP’) with 3 new tracks will be out September 19th on State of the Eye Recordings.

Visit her official here.

The Brutes - “Yourspace” (Music Video)

There’s something about this Minneapolis band that makes me feel like I’m at a high school basement party, although I think it’s kind of too early to list “The Strokes” as an influence in your press release… Just stick with the Kinks and David Bowie if you have to list anybody.

Nada Surf meets Depeche Mode is like an Asian girl’s wet dream or something… I hear they’re working on the new album, and I can’t wait to hear the rest!

from the press release:

From their covers album If I Had A Hi-Fi, Nada Surf filmed a video for the Depeche Mode song ‘Enjoy the Silence’ during their 2010 European Summer tour. Directed by Jan-Ole Gerster, the video was shot in Nuremberg, Munich and Dresden.
